Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Adults

(Royce Gracie in Action - early UFC)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a sophisticated system of grappling, brought to the United States and the world, most notably, through the Gracie family of Brazil. Here at Front Range BJJ we teach the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, using leverage, timing and technique to control the position in an encounter with a training partner or opponent and effectively apply various chokes and joint locks (submissions) to end the match or altercation.
BJJ is a very practical and effective martial art, made popular through the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and other mixed martial arts competitions. It is THE MOST in demand martial art today and for good reason. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is excellent for developing self-defense, health and physical fitness, strengthening your mind and resolve, testing yourself, building camaraderie and developing life long friendships.
We break our Jiu-Jitsu classes up into 3 distinct curriculums in addition to open mat sessions:
Fundamental Jiu-Jitsu: This class is where we teach the basic positions, escapes and submissions of Jiu-Jitsu through drilling and positional resistance.
Intermediate Jiu-Jitsu: This class builds upon the fundamentals class introducing the students to additional & more advanced techniques. Sparring or "rolling" is an integral part of the process from this class forward. Intermediate Jiu-Jitsu is offered both with and without the gi. You must be qualified for and enrolled in the intermediate program to attend these classes.
Advanced Jiu-Jitsu: This class to be implemented.
Open Mat: Live sparring or "rolling". Sometimes this class is organized by the instructor and other times students can just come in and train with whomever they like. You must be qualified for and enrolled in the intermediate program to attend the open mats.
